Introduction to the Post-treatment Process of Injection Molded Products - Laser Marking

Table of Content [Hide]

    Laser marking is a process of surface treatment. Similar to screen printing and pad printing, laser marking is used to print characters or patterns on products. However, in contrast, laser making has the advantages of fast marking speed, beautiful image, high accuracy, consistent effect, high speed, low cost, and so on.

    1. How laser marking works?

    1) Laser Marking is the use of high-intensity laser beam emitted by laser to oxidize the material and thus process it;

    2) The marking effect is to reveal the deep material through the evaporation of the surface material, or to cause the chemical and physical changes of the surface material to show traces through the light energy.

    2. Laser marking machine

    The laser marking machine uses laser beams to carve permanent marks on the surface of a substance or inside a transparent substance. The laser beam can produce two kinds of chemical and physical effects on the substance. When the material absorbs the laser light instantaneously, it produces a physical or chemical reaction, which marks or displays a pattern or text. So laser marking machine is also called laser engraving machine. The performance of a laser marking machine is mainly determined by its engraving speed, engraving intensity and spot size.

    3. Advantages of laser marking

    Compared with traditional carving, etching and other processing methods, laser marking has the following advantages:

    1) High precision: Laser marking can manufacture high-precision patterns and text on the surface of various materials, and the accuracy can reach the micron level.

    2) High efficiency: Laser marking can achieve large area processing and its processing speed is fast, which improves the production efficiency.

    3) Environmental protection and energy saving: Laser marking does not require the use of any chemical etchant or heavy metals, which can achieve environmental protection and energy saving.

    4) Corrosion resistance: The pattern and text made by laser marking have good corrosion resistance and can withstand the harsher industrial environment.
